About This Spot

Stepping into Malaysian Hut feels like finding a little piece of home far from the bustle of Surrey’s city life. This cozy, family-run spot invites you to slow down and savor not only the food but the warmth that comes from years of care and tradition. The pace here is unhurried, the kind of place where familiar smells and generous hospitality quietly settle around you, making a simple meal linger a little longer.

The atmosphere is intimate and welcoming, marked by friendly smiles and an easy camaraderie that makes conversations flow naturally—even among strangers. The modest space hums with the subtle energy of a neighborhood place where Irene, the owner, greets regulars and newcomers alike with the same genuine warmth, creating a rhythm that feels both personal and grounded.

At Malaysian Hut, the dishes whisper stories of home kitchens and joyful gatherings. Curries rich with depth, noodles enlivened by the gentle snap of fresh vegetables, and golden fried treats offer more than just flavors—they invite you to experience the layers of culture and care infused into every bite. Whether it’s the flaky, warm roti paired with a delicate curry or the softly spiced satay shared among friends, each plate feels like an affectionate nod to heritage and comfort.

This is a place where food is an invitation to pause, reflect, and connect—not just with those around you, but with a tradition carried lovingly through decades. And while the flavors stay true to authentic Malaysian cooking, it’s the atmosphere—the thoughtful service, the attentive presence of staff, and the steady hum of a community touched by genuine care—that lingers after the last bite.

Another hot & delicious Malaysian meal for the two of us: very flavourful Char Mee, & wonderfully spiced Samba fish. We’ve been enjoying Irene’s food for over 20 years & still enjoy every bite. Free parking. Near Guildford Mall & only a few mins from Surrey Cevtral City mall. Cash only.

A cozy spot with truly amazing food—just like I remember from my childhood in Brunei. The flavors are authentic and comforting, and the consistency never disappoints. Irene, the owner, is always warm and welcoming, greeting everyone with a big smile. The price point is fair, and the overall experience keeps me coming back. Always a treat to dine here!

Had the roti canai which was hot, fresh, fluffy and flaky with a curry sauce that fused nicely together. Next was the chicken satay served with a peanut sauce and a side of pineapples and cucumbers. The texture was soft and tasty and quite unlike any satay I’ve had. The main was the Penang char kway teow, a rice noodle dish with beans sprouts, sliced Chinese sausages and prawns. Tis was not to my taste as it has a burnt flavour, and I got only two prawns for the whole dish even though I had asked for the Chinese sausages to be swapped out. The service was ok and I was asked if I wanted hot or cold water on arrival. Ambience is simple, and the establishment is cash only (debit card may be accepted). Irene, the chef/ owner came to chat and seemed pleasant. Great place for authentic Malaysian meals, and comes highly recommended. Returned and Irene recommended Nonya Mee Hoon Goreng (vermicelli with sambal sauce, sun dried shrimps and prawns) based on my Nigerian palate and some Kui Seri Muka (glutinous rice and pandan leaves). 10/10. This is a repeat visit that I don’t regret.

For starters, please call and make reservations in advance. The staff kindly accommodated us and we were very fortunate to be able to dine at this location as walk-in customers. We ordered a number of items to try. Food was delicious and nicely presented. Service was excellent and friendly. We had our water refilled and staff checked in on us a couple times. Lastly, this is a cash only restaurant so please remember to bring enough cash. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Amazing little family run restaurant that’s been around since the 2000s. It’s recommended to call before dining as they encourage reservations to be sure that the fresh ingredients are in stock and they have space available for a comfortable dining experience. Irene is one of the sweetest owner’s I’ve met, always contributing a bit of soul and personality to this restaurant. 10/10 recommended

This restaurant has been in business for 27 years and I understand why! My family is from Malaysia and we always look for authentic Malaysian food while travelling and this restaurant is it. From the food types, quality and freshness, it was delicious and tasted like home! The roti chanai was our favourite!

Talk about authentic, this is it!!! Recommended by a Malaysian friend so definitely lived up to its hype as her family goes there regularly.. Funny how they offer perfume and cologne to guests in the washroom, nice touch. Food lunch specials well worth it, you can smell how fresh and hot, right off the wok (or something like that). Flat noodles and shrimp, just so flavourful! Some parking in front, in commercial building. Not the fanciest for a business meeting but it's here for good food.

I recently dined at Malaysian Hunt and was thoroughly impressed. The food was incredibly delicious and authentic, the service was outstanding, and the prices were very reasonable. The only downside is that it's cash-only, so come prepared. Despite this, I'll definitely be coming back soon. Highly recommend!
